Paedo hunters Video vigilantes snare ‘perverts’ in sting

TWO self-styled paedophile hunters have shamed a string of alleged online perverts.

The vigilante duo’s work has even led to the arrest of a suspected child sex predator.

The men pose as girls aged 14 and 15 on dating websites and arrange to meet blokes who show an interest.

They then video their confrontations with respondents and post the footage online to shame them.

Police in Warwickshire yesterday confirmed that one of their stings resulted in the arrest of a 65-year-old man.

The pals give themselves false identities — which cannot be revealed for legal reasons — and have filmed 14 showdown encounters in the past nine months.

One of the hunters, who is in his 30s, said: “It’s amazingly easy. I could get someone around to my house in less than two hours. I don’t know why the police don’t do it — they could get these people off the streets.”

In one sting the pair met a man aged 47 in a Birmingham hotel. He arranged for a key card to be left at reception and the duo waited in the room to meet him.

Their “target” then brought cigarettes and booze to the room despite expecting to meet a “virgin” schoolgirl.

But he soon found himself all over the internet.

One of the hunters added: “I always say I’m 14. Some men say, ‘No, you’re too young’, but a lot don’t care.

“We never use violence, we just shame them online.

“The last video has had an overwhelming reaction.”

Police said the man arrested on suspicion of inciting a minor to engage in sexual activity is on bail.

They are looking for those behind the videos and discouraged “vigilantism” as it may affect investigations.
