Two gangs of Asian men brandishing hammers and knives clashed on an Accrington street.
One group of seven fought with a group of three outside Tyson’s Gym on Victoria Street on Monday evening.
Detectives said an 18-year-old man from Accrington suffered concussion and required seven stitches after his ear was knifed.
A 23-year-old was also injured after being punched in the brawl.
Detective Sergeant Julie Cross, of Accrington CID, said it was a nasty incident.
She said: “The two men injured were in the group of three. One was badly assaulted with a machete and the other was punched. This is an incident where young lads have been out fighting in the street in the evening with weapons.
“Fortunately no one else has been seriously injured. It seems like a bit of an argument that may have started in the gym. It’s not honour based, it is not a community issue. But they do all seem to know each other. We are looking for any witnesses who may have seem something on the street at that time to contact police on 101.”
* Three men have been arrested on suspicion of assault but released on police bail.
